Values

Last week we talked about the values inherent in American politics. Those were Liberty, Equality, and Security. Take a minute to think about how different groups might elevate one of those values above others. Do different parties rank values differently? Different age groups? What about different countries; do they have different values altogether? Post your response below or write it wherever you do your Daily Prep.

  1. Groups such as the libertarians would value liberty over security because they want less government involvement.

  2. I think parents would value security more because they would be concerned for the health of their kids, and their health so they can be alive for their kids.

I think teenagers would value equality because they want to be treated like they are equal and all bossed around, like we are little kids.

  7. I say yes because different people rank their values differently. Political parties are a combination of those people that have a similar way of thought. Some teens may prefer liberty over equality, then when you are older you may think that equality is more important.

  8. Yes, I think different parties do rank the values differently because in one party equality might be the top piority while in others it's not. Teenagers might value Liberty over the others, older adults might value secuity the most. Different ethic groups and gender groups might think equality is the most important. Countries have the same values but the people and government as what's differnent.

  9. I would say that every group and person views the values very differently. Not everybody is programed to have the same feelings and responses to one thought such as the values.
