Rule of Law


What is meant by "Rule of Law?" What about the "Rule of Man?" In your own words, explain what you think these expressions mean, or predict the meaning of these expressions.

  3. I think the rule of law means that you don't do anything to harm the society and the people around you. I think that the rule of man is that you do something to make yourself get ahead in life.

    In my mind I see Rule of law to be a rule that all make or one man makes that other people agree with in mojority. while Rule of man is rules that only one man makes that no one else greeded with to set up but may agree with, or not.

  5. I think rule by law means that you are ruling by what a book or paper says on it (laws)
    I think ruling by man is ruling by reason or logically ruling.

  7. The "rule of law" is the rule that laws must be followed and if they are not, punishment will ensue. Meanwhile, the "rule of man" is the rule that every person has the right to happiness.

  8. The "Rule of Law" is when the society you live in is ruled under certian laws where as "Rule of Man" is when man is more like the rule under one man, kind of like a dictatorship.

  12. I think "rule of law" is a rule that a group of people make, that everyone agrees upon,and is written down. "Rule of man" is a rule that may or may not be written down but is common sense.

    In his mind Dalton thought that the "Rule of Law" was where poeple were governed by law instead of by their own will.
    Also Dalton thought that the "Rule of Man" was where people were governed my themselves instead of law.

  16. "Rule of Law" means that people follow laws and the laws are enforced. "Rule of Man" means that the rules are enforced by a group of people who use tactics to get people to succeed in that rule.

    Rule of man means following the laws as they are stated by a dictator or monarch.

  34. I think that the "Rule of Law" is the practice and established ideas used when defending the law. I think the "Rule of Man" is how people react to the Rule of Law, whether they choose to follow it or not.

  36. The rule of law is when issues are solved by putting laws into place. the rule of man is when a person solves peoblems. ?

    "'Ellis boyd redding, yyour files say you have seved forty years of a life sentance, do you feel you've been rehabilitated?''Rehabilitated? you know, i have no idea what that means...' 'well it means that your ready to rejoin society...' 'i know what you think it means, sonny... to me its just a made up word, a politician's word so that young fellas like yourselve can wear a suit and a tie and have a job... what do you really want to know? am i sorry for what i did?' 'well are you?' 'theres not a day goes by i dont feel regret... not because im in here, because you think i should... i look back on the way i was then... a young, stupid kid who committted that terrible crime... i wanna talk to him, i wanna talk some sense to him, tell him the way things are... but i cant... that kisd long gone and this old man is all that's left... i gotta live with that... rehabilitated? its just a bull**** word... so you go on and sign your papers and start wasting my time, because to tell you the truth, i dont really give a s***...'"
